I'm glad to see we've been able to move past the last few days comments and
get our sense of humor back. Myself included. I just want to say I got
plenty of responses back from lots of you. Many of which were very
protective of the group. Not to beat a dead horse, but I just want to point
out a few things that were taken the wrong way. And thank the few people the
emailed me personally to express their thanks for bringing up issues they to
feel are a concern.
I was a bit harsh when describing participants of this list, but my point
was that I know many people that have been turned away from this list and
Linux, itself, because of our attitudes *SOMETIMES*. Some of these people
are on the list now and may drop off again due to this very concern.
Generally, you are all right this is a fair helpful tool for any one at home
working on a *nix system or someone that has an non-urgent question. Which
is how this should be used. But and I think this is a big BUT =) I also
think it should be used a welcoming platform and a community builder. I know
I'm making big suggestions and not acting on them but that is partly due to
that fact that I really don't know who is in charge. Or more appropriately
who I can approach without being harassed because I chose the wrong person.
Anyway, I'm sorry Paul that It seemed as though I was attacking you when in
fact you are one of the people on the list I most respect. In many ways I
see you as the leader of the group. Just as a side point I was a sysadmin
but I could stand the users anymore so I moved to web development and now I
let customer service deal with the stupid calls. ;P
And for those of you that think the fact that I have a wife and child is a
burden, F@#! OFF! They're the best thing that ever happened to me and your
comments are exactly what I was talking about. It's not my fault you're
bitter pent up dorks with an aversion towards farm animals.
Ray
P.S. The proper definition of Anangrous is- adj. Ominous, difficult; as in
anything large or very complex. ;P

Derek later realized that this was no longer a sufficient form of amusement
and graduated to other activities which require squeegees :)
