Yes, that appears to be the default. However, the RH6.2 inetd.conf
does still have the entry for 'auth', just commented out. I'd imagine
that a troublesome situation could be created if identd was running
standalone AND from inetd.
A check of "/etc/rc.d/init.d/identd status" should report something
like:
identd (pid 448 447 445 441 438) is running...
...if it is indeed being run standalone.
