Just for fun, I spent some time compiling Xosview from source
about a year ago.
XOSVIW is fairly well written in C++. It compiles from the
source - no problem. The problem is trying to get all of the
X11 graphic libraries with the correct compatibility. I was
never able to get all of the graphics to work correctly.
XOSVIEW; although it's a neat whiz-bang, isn't particularly
reliable as a measurement tool. It's looking at selected params in
the '/proc' directory and belatedly (the degree entirely dependent
upon the performance params you are probably trying to measure),
presenting them in a spiffy Xwindow. It sure looks good though!
I was more interested in it from the software point of view than
as a practical tool.
