OK, here's what I've learned so far. Building the kernel and getting the net
up is pretty easy. Getting all of the services you want to run (and don't want
to run) is a royal PITA. The Linux world has got to get some things
standardized. My Redhat machine behave very differently from my slackware
machine. I thought I had both pretty secure but it turns out that the Redhat
machine won't let me in (like I thought it would) but the slackware machine is
a real slut. I thought I done the same stuff to both machines, but I can't get
the Redhat machine to let me in, and I can't get the Slackware machine to be
secure.
Lot's to learn...
