Thought for today: gnarly /nar'lee/ adj.

 Both obscure and hairy
(sense 1). "Yow! -- the tuned assembler implementation of
BitBlt is really gnarly!" From a similar but less specific usage
   in surfer slang.

MEETING NOTICE

Greater Nashua Software Entrepreneurs Group (GNSEG)

Topic: The top 10 technologies to learn more about
Speakers: Group discussion
Date/Time: Tuesday, July 3rd, at 7:00 p.m.
Place: Nashua Public Library
                2 Court Street, Nashua NH
                http://www.nashua.lib.nh.us/

INTRO:
As a result of the message I sent previously looking for
additions to the long list of technologies that I had, I
was pleasantly surprised to get back a large number of
suggestions to add to it. It basically made the list
double in size.

This large list was then voted on by everyone that RSVP'd
from both the GNSEG and NH Jobs List groups and came up
with the following top 10 choices to discuss in order of
popularity:
        1. XML
        2. .NET
        3. Java
        4. Firewalls
        5. ASP
        6. C#
        7. UML
        8. Knowledge Management
        9. SNMP
        10. Linux

LINKS:
If you would like to contribute relevant links to any of
the topics shown above, please send them to me via email no
later than Monday 7/2. I will be compiling them and will
make them available at the meeting as a handout and later on
the site for folks that aren't able to attend. These links
can be to sites discussing the topic, books to buy, or
courses to take. If it helped you learn more about one of
these then it qualifies. Even if you want to help me out by
finding some on a topic you have looked into before, that
would be great.

SPEAKERS:
Some folks have already made their experience known to me to
use as a resource at the meeting. We will be using these
folks to give us the real world stories of how they have
used these technologies in their daily work. If you have
some experience you'd like to share with the group at the
meeting on one of the topics, please let me know and I'd
be glad to include you.

FORMAT:
Stealing the idea that I have heard used at many business
meetings (usually involving pitching to a room full of
venture capitalists), we will be devoting a total of 10
minutes to each of the 10 topics. That means we need to
start at 7:00PM SHARP. As each technology is showcased,
the speakers will take turns quickly giving the rest of
the audience tips on how to quickly ramp up using it,
pitfalls to avoid, etc. It might end up resembling a
game show, but hey we're not a stuffy group, right?

MISC:
I have added an online member database to the site.
Check it out:
        http://www.gnseg.org/memdir.htm

For last minutes updates, notices and events, check out:

See you there,
Dave
