I have been doing contracting for over 15 years, and have never had more
than about 3 weeks of downtime between contracts. Most of my contracts have
been for multiple years.
Currently the job market is sparse, but I still get calls. There are many
companies who need Linux people today. Personally, I'm comfortable with all
flavors of Unix.
