Check /etc/printcap for things. What sort of things? It depends on the
print subsystem. Red Hat, for example, uses files in the printer spool
directory (usually something like /var/spool/lpd/lp0/) to configure print
filters (drivers). But it all starts at /etc/printcap, so that is where to
start if you don't know anything else.
(Thus assumes Slackware is still using a traditional Unix LPD, or
something that works like it. If they are using one of the new print
subsystems, like CUPS, I have no idea where config info comes from.)
