Sorry for the noise, but I just rec'd this at work. If you can't donate
blood (or even if you can), there are other things we can do to help out.

Subject: FW: World Trade Center requests - Call for Donation of Items for
Rescue Workers
Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2001 11:30:56 -0400
I thought you might all like to have this information.....
The Chamber just received calls
from the Salvation Army & the American Red Cross
The Salvation Army's request is to get the word out to our members that the
rescue workers in New York City are
in need of some very basic items that could make their jobs a little easier.
A Salvation Army truck will be located in downtown Nashua
on Saturday, September 15, 2001
during the "Street Beat" event being held from 3:00 - 10:00 pm to collect
these items
If this drop-off is not convenient, donations will be accepted
at the Salvation Army at 1 Montgomery Avenue in Nashua.
Items needed are:
socks
jeans
tee shirts
Also needed are:
Bottled water
Food items that would be nourishing, but that would make quick and
easy sandwiches, such as peanut butter, jelly, marshmallow fluff, spam, or
any type of sandwich spread and, of course, bread.
The American Red Cross asks:
The immediate need for blood has been met by a tremendous outpouring of
support from around the country. For those who are able to donate blood the
Red Cross is asking that you call 1-800-GIVELIFE and make an appointment now
to give blood in two-three weeks. The need for blood will still be great at
that time.
For those interested in making a monetary donation should send their
donations to the local chapter at: 28 Concord Street, Nashua NH 03064.
Please write Disaster Relief on the outside of the envelope.
To answer a huge increase in phone inquiries the local chapter has had to
install additional phone lines and is requesting volunteers to help man
these phones during working hours. If you are able to donate your time
please call the local chapter at 889-6664 and ask for Barbara Bedard.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
