Ever since AT&T bought Mediaone, I have noticed that the cable modem servise has gotten increasingly worse. So, I set out to find a DSL provider in my area that met the following criteria:
1) Static IP Addresses 2) Good spped 3) Linux friendly 4) Aloows me to run my own services Ambitious, and a little unrealistic, I know. But, I have found one!!! (I think). DirectTV bought Telocity, and now has DirectTV-DSL. In there System Requirements, they specifically mention what you need for Linux, what needs to be set up, etc. In the FAQ, there is a question of "Can I host my own website" and the answer is "Yes, this is just one of the reasons that we give you a static IP address!". The service is only $50/month, too. I'm going to give them a call on Monday, and I'll see how they are. FYI, Kenny -- --------------------------------------------------- Kenneth E.
