At least it was only a Flash plugin required, for which you have the 
opportunity to download one for Linux.  It could have been Quicktime, 
which isn't available for Linux :)

I recently visited a website where I got a popup telling me the web 
page had "Performed an Illegall Operation".  I almost died.  There 
are evidently some web pages which are really win32 executables 
running and look like a real windows session!
