They are a Covad reseller.  They also used to resell Northpoint.

Not bad.  When DSL companies started going under left and right, they
has a really funny graphic on their website that read: "Speakeasy - We
pay our Covad Bills"...

Same here.  Speakeasy had a bit of a scare when Covad hick-up'd a few
months ago.

What enamoured me to them (besides all the rave reviews from fellow
geeks) was that they don't skimp on the information they give you.
During the install process, you have full access to the communication
logs between Speakeasy and their vendors (ATT/Bell Atlantic/Covad, etc)
so you see exactly what is going on.  They also give you a dialup
account and a shell account in case you need to use it before install or
during outages.

Their techs don't talk down to the customers nearly as badly as other
providers do, and most of their techs don't automatically assume you're
an idiot.

I like them.


That said, I had a REALLY bad problem with packet loss last night and
this morning... Soooo.... YMMV.
