I would say that you need a reverse DNS record for your machine.

Address: 199.125.85.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: mail.diffloth.com
Address: 199.232.38.4

> 199.232.38.4
Server: ns1.mv.net
Address: 199.125.85.1

*** ns1.mv.net can't find 199.232.38.4: Non-existent host/domain

so host->ip works, but ip->host doesn't. My guess is that att's mail
server is doing a reverse lookup on the IP to check it matches the name
it's being passed.

Ask whomever does DNS for you to add a reverse record for that machine.
