The UNH Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
will be holding its first public meeting of the 2001-02 year on Tuesday,
March 26. Our guest speaker will be Bradley Kuhn, Vice President of the
Free Software Foundation. The FSF is responsible for the GNU project,
which was launched in 1984 to develop a complete Unix-like operating
system based on free software. Bradley will be talking about the history
and future of the free software movement, how his experience in industry
led him to embrace the GNU philosophy, and some of the reasons behind
the explosion in popularity of free software.

Bradley has expressed interest in meeting members of GNHLUG during his
visit, and I especially encourage anyone from the group to attend. Free
refreshments will be provided during the presentation, and we'll be
heading downtowm in Durham for lunch afterwards.

The schedule of events that day is as follows:

  Tuesday, March 26, 2002:

12:30-2:00 Bradley gives talk on GNU and the Free Software
  Movement, KINGSBURY HALL M227

2:00-5:00 Lunch someplace downtown in Durham with informal Q&A

Anyone who needs directions to UNH can e-mail me
([EMAIL PROTECTED]).

Thanks,

Scott
