A couple of things:

 - there are a number of different chips that make up the Rage 128
   family.  The one you have might not support acceleration under
   XFree86 (but I think it does).  Never really was able to figure out
   how to tell...  

 - There are two components of DRI that are actually part of the
   kernel: the DRI driver, and the DRI support for your specific card.
   You may need to recomplie your kernel and make sure both are
   included.

This isn't a big deal; you can safely ignore them.

Oh, one other thing you might try changing:  the bit depth.  Some
older X apps for Unix systems expect to be running on an 8-bit
display, and don't work properly on high-color or true-color displays
(16-bit and 32-bit respectively).  Older releases of HP-Omniback are
one example.  You could try experimenting with that to see if it makes
a difference.  Also, some cards that are supported by DRI are (or
were) only supported at certain bit depths.  Check the kernel help for
the ATI driver to see if this could be affecting you.
