For those with good network connections there will be a live streaming presentation tomorrow at 10:30 a.m PDT/17:30 GMT. Larry Ellison (Chairman and CEO of Oracle), Russ Holt (VP of Dell) and Matthew Szulik (CEO of Red Hat) will all 'be there'. Three things: First: Don't watch the above expecting lots of technical detail about Oracle and/or Linux. Second: The Oracle corporate campus looks like Antarctica there are so many penguin posters and such around. I remember a conversation that maddog, Rob Anderson and I had with Linus about 7 years ago (maybe more?) during an excursion to one of the DEC offices. Linus said that he would like to have a penguin 'like Opus' as the mascot for Linux. I replied that I had a friend who was a really talented artist and he could come up with some pictures. That friend (who I still know) was (and is!) a little lazy so he never got around to it. His artwork could have been famous! Third: I remember the day (about 6 years ago) when a certain new Oracle employee stood up at a GNHLUG meeting and said those fateful words: "Oracle will never release on Linux, they just don't understand free software!". How things change! Rich -- The above comments are mine and are not any kind of official information from Oracle. ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
