Hmmmm. I just tried
GET /bogus
and it gave me a standard 404 "Not Found" response. So I am guessing
something is happening in the default home page to gum up the works.
Maybe something is trying a DNS lookup? I have no evidence for that, but
over-zealous use of DNS lookups is often a cause of this sort of behavior.
