If you can't get your system to work using
modules, please be informed that my skanky
old 33MHz-486 firewall box has an AHA1542
in it and when I've built kernels for that
machine I've always just made them statically
linked (I'm currently using a 2.4.18 kernel,
FYI) and they've always just worked.
