Dear Gnogians
I really should be writing each of you individually that have taken the
time to apply your Gnoggins to Gnoga even before it has been released, but
I also want my message to be public and archived forever :)
As we are entering in to the the last weeks and days before releasing 1.0
at the heart of the EggGnog season, I want to take a moment to express my
sincere thanks and holiday wishes for prosperity and success to every one
of you and that means _you_ reading this!
If not for the encouragement that comes from people making suggestions,
finding bugs, pointing out my embarrassing spelling errors and omissions
from working to long and too fast on way too much coffee (ok, I just type
first think later....), for joining this list even if you've said nothing
at all (I get an e-mail every time someone joins and it gives me warm
fuzzies), I don't know if we would be this far along as quickly as we are
and with the quality of product we have.
I consider you all part of the team that will bring Gnoga (brightness and
light) to the world of Ada and all software development.
A bit about the word Gnoga :)
*Pronounced* - n oh g ah
*Acronym for* - The GNU Omnificent Gui for Ada
(Omnificent = unlimited in creative power)
*Origin* - The Hebrew word nogah (נגה)
*Definition of Origin* -
1) brightness; clearness
2) shine; shimmer; light
3) The planet Venus
4) One of the sons of King David (1 Chronicles 3:7)
5) In kabbalistic texts it is the balance point between good and evil that
man's choice of deeds affects to transform to holiness or condemn to
impurity. (Incidentally this is different than the Gnostic beliefs that
matter is inherently evil, despite the similar name to Gnoga :)
So what is Gnoga? It is the clear shimmer of light piercing the sky like
the morning star, the child of David to bring the balance of the
programming world to the side of Ada.
For bonus - the numerical value of the Hebrew origin word is 58 = Noah and
so it should the Ark to a new world of quality programming on the web :)
Now that was a gnostical gnoga moment :)
