I am not familiar with apt-get but as far as I know I need root access to run it. My main goal was to compile firefox locally. Then I had to compile gtk+ and now atk. I have to do everything locally because I do not have root access.
Mentar PS. Im not trying to install GNOME, at least I am not aware of it being installed.
