Not sure why you couldn't access the installer file, I was able to download it fine here last evening.

I think the difference is that the file that is just a tar will allow you to try Bon Echo by letting you extract it to any folder, at which point you can run it from there, where as the installer will replace the default version of mozilla currently living on your system.

Thanks for the link.  Which file do I need to download?  I see one that
is an installer and another that is just a binary tar.gz for i686 but
doesn't say installer.  I guess my question may be answered by the fact
that the installer doesn't seem to download for some reason.  I just get
an error that says can't access.
