Your options are: OCROpus http://ocropus.googlecode.com/ Cuneiform https://launchpad.net/cuneiform-linux OCROPus relies on Tesseract: http://tesseract-ocr.googlecode.com/ They're all very much under development at the moment, therefore stability is not to be expected. I haven't tried any of these as I don't have an optical scanner.
