Yes, this is the norm for most of the customers I have that run Outlook
or Notes. And, in fact, this reply can be used as a perfect example of
it.

So, if you look at an email thread in those environments, it will look
pretty much like this, with replies preceding the previous email (which
is, usually, shown in full).

hggdh, Sorry I didn't get your point at all wrt full-top-posting. (Is that  you
say that every thing is typed at the beginning? or something else?)
