I think you can try to compile libgnomedb giving the --enable-gnome=no option to
the configure script (though I have not tested it for a long time).

There may also be some problems with the gnome canvas widget being
used, but it should be quite easy to get rid of it if
--enable-gnome=no.

As I don't have a Windows box I have never tested it. Please tell me
how it goes.
