The http://library.gnome.org/devel/libgda-4.0/unstable/migration-1.html and http://library.gnome.org/devel/libgda-4.0/unstable/migration-2.html pages mention those changes. As for the V4 API, it's not yet fully stabilized (I expect it to be by the end of September). If I can be of any help, please let me know.
