Yes, the icon is still non-free.

We do distribute plugins via an online repo, but we also have the ability to
use a local repo installed via a package. If the icon is non-free then it
cannot be packaged in a free software distro, and therefore cannot be
distributed. It's just a legal mess, use free icons, end of story.
