Sirs,

Sorry to "go direct", but after a few hours, I could not get around the
various pages to find the way to express my frustration.
I am doing my best to work with Ubuntu since last September. Not easy,
but I have faith.
And so, yes, the biggest problem this all enterprise has is that it is
impossible to find any reasonable help unless:
        - you are part of the gang and know (probably) your way around, the
special words to type in the search to get the right screen, etc...
        - you have 2-3 hours spare times everyday.

First big thing about Gnome and so on is the "command on line", so they
say. But, where to you find a help, short and concise, that does not
spend pages and pages talking about the beauty of the stuff, but simply
gives a list of all the functions available at your fingertips with
their options:
3 columns: function, options, explanation of what that does.

Other frustration: something clear, neat, to the point about how to
manage in the real world: administration level. I believe I did the
set-up correctly and I have all the full rights on my PC, but I still
cannot modify a system file without passing through hours of complicated
procedures via... the command line. A bit short to compete with
Microsoft and the like.

Other big frustration... I would like to help, when my time allows it,
but HOW??? I register to the forums... no way to find it back through
the various help pages.

In short: the whole help thing needs some drastic serious management and
cleaning if ... the community really wants this to take off. Maybe not?
Is it just something to please the people "in-the-know"?

I want to support this wonderful venture, but you do not help, do you?

JP
