Ubuntu 11.10 has reached End of Life and is no longer supported. You really need to upgrade to at least Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. If you don't like upgrading often, you should probably stick to the LTS releases. If you are a GNOME Shell user, Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 will give you the best experience – but you'll have to upgrade about twice a year if you aren't using the LTS releases. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases This isn't really the right place for printing support. I don't know; perhaps askubuntu.com would be a better place to find answers to questions like this.
