well. People do open https://foundation.gnome.org in their browsers. And
sometimes browsers do themselves. We received a handful reports of
people seeing the Mango page instead of f.g.o.

And since you cannot redirect w/o terminating the SSL connection first,
I think it does indeed make sense.
