I would hardly suggest to someone who is trying to upgrade gnome to change distros. There is a level of expertise expected in making such a change. Depending on how old a release of Red Hat it is, there are various solutions. Maybe Samuel can tell us what release of Red Hat he's on. If it's too old, it's not an easy thing to upgrade just Gnome.
