This sounds like an interesting idea, but then it would mean that the
native application should support the same. This combined with the
previous thread on "idiot-proofing gnome" (launchers should have the
option of pulling up a running instance of the application instead of
creating a new instance) would be a real neat feature for the GNOME desktop.
