Error on boot up "Install Problem " Gnome Power Manager

[Alligator]

The complete error message is as follows. "Configuration defaults in 
Gnome Power Manager have not been installed correctly"

I don't know what was done to cause this,  but the result is login is 
not allowed.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
