Sounds like it's an issue coming from intltool, though. Does it only
happen with gnome-desktop?
Hmmm no, in fact many/most modules are affected. I wonder what
responsible software package I removed since it definitely did
work not too long ago.
Or maybe the recent 'jhbuild bootstrap' broke it?
Actually the latter.
autogen completes fine in the distro's environment but it fails
within the jhbuild environment.
I reinstalled m4 and all autotools stuff within jhbuild but to no avail.
