Most important thing in order to get ready for GSoC is to get to know the
community you want to apply for, and to get it to know you by getting
involved early. So I'd recommend that you pick a GNOME project/application
written in C/C++ that you like using, then learn how to build it, and
finally, find some very small/easy bugs in it, either by using it, or in
bugzilla, and write patches for this.
