It is a good initiative, and it may be supported by GM one day. However, I would have preferred if they had worked on integration of Jabber with SIP/H.323/IAX instead of creating yet another incomplete VoIP protocol. Jingle is (currently) limited to Audio, and doesn't support things like "Call Hold", "Call Transfer" (blind/consultative), VoiceMail indications, ... that are supported by H.323 and SIP.
