Just my 2 cents : While I do enjoy using Gnote, I feel it's something different than "Notes" design. For example, Gnote makes heavy usage of workbooks, extensions, offers more formatting to the (power-)user. Maybe removing features from Gnote would be a lost. On the other hand, "Notes" design seems to propose something really different. I might be wrong, but I think the design mainly describes a very simple UI, strongly integrated with Gnome 3. As I wanted to learn, I created some "mockup" code on github to work on something close to Notes (https://github.com/pyluyten/bijiben) with minimal wiki / issues list if anyone interested. This is early stage, still far from specifications and obviously I'm opened to any comment.
