Which is fine for users running Ubuntu "focal" or higher, but it has not (yet?) been backported to the current Ubuntu Long-Term Release, 18.04 (aka "Bionic"). More's the pity, because Ubuntu 18.10 (and higher) will no longer provide i386 OS installation images. So, one wonders if Gnote is yet-another project that has chosen to forsake 32-bit operating systems; and, if so, why?

Gnote uses APIs, introduced in 2.62. Users of those older OSes that don't have this version of Glibmm can use 3.34, and, TBH, there is no big shiny reason to upgrade to 3.36.
