No hardlink are involved by default AFAIK, but since the
,,new-pristine will be mv-ed to {arch}, and since that "mv" is
supposed to be atomic, it needs to be on the same partition anyway,
yes.

I've just sent a merge request to create the ,,new-pristine at the
tree root (will be on the devo branch in a few minutes).

The directory is only temporary so shouldn't disturb the user, but in
case something goes wrong and the directory is left in the way, I
think it's better to have it visible than hidden in the {arch}/
directory.
