The Hurd is not so common yet.  That's what needs to be pushed so that day may come sooner.

Linux already emulates things that the Hurd provided many years ago.
Linux has a horribly broken user-space file-system interface for one,
and it also emulates many parts of the GNU system.

So that day has come, and gone already.
