Development series Tramp 2.1.9 has been released. Besides bug fixes, it introduces gateway methods which are intended for passing http tunnels and socksv5 servers.
For the time being, gateway methods are implemented for GNU Emacs 22 only. I would really appreciate, if somebody could help in the future for XEmacs porting issues.
