Kongoni added some non-Free Software some time ago, and was rightfully taken out of the recommended distro list for that.
I got word of a new release today http://www.kongoni.org/index.php/2010/09/11/kongoni-1-12-3-cicero-released/ and I noticed this http://www.kongoni.org/index.php/2010/08/03/kongoni-1-12-3-rc2-cicero-its-out-in-the-wild/ : <quote> Another major modification done to Kongoni, is moving from the classic kernel, found at kernel.org to the FSF kernel, which has removed all of the non-free firmware. Also removed from git repository any trace of non-free software and firmware. This means that there will be no Adobe Flash, no radeon non-free firmware, no non-free codecs and so on. Everything is now open source or free. </quote> The *or* is a bit worrisome; it had better be an “and”, or drop the “open source” altogether. Still, the new web site points to kernel.org and slackware.org. I don't know who took over Kongoni, is the new maintainer on this list? Anyhow, should Kongoni be added to the incoming distros so people keep a close watch on it for a bit longer before adding it back to the official list off gnu.org/distros? -- Alexandre Oliva, freedom fighter http://FSFLA.org/~lxoliva/ You must be the change you wish to see in the world. -- Gandhi Be Free! -- http://FSFLA.org/ FSF Latin America board member Free Software Evangelist Red Hat Brazil Compiler Engineer
