Why?  What's the point of rushing to implement something that's no
    better than using our release tarballs or our deblobbing scripts, rather
    than releasing something that will actually be useful?

I am not convinced it was no better.  Besides, with the optimization
I suggested, it becomes easy to bring all of Torvalds' changes into
our repository.  That is a lot better.

However, our latest proposals are better than that.
