We are trying to collect examples of GPL success, and lax license failure. GPL success means the fact that a program is under the GPL has convinced some developer to contribute to the free world who would otherwise have been likely to make a proprietary extended version.
Lax license failure means cases where a developer made a useful extension that we wish were free, but made it proprietary. Please send your examples to [email protected] and put "Examples of GPL success" as the Subject field. You don't need to send lots of detail. If you have time, please verify the facts to make sure that what happened really is what you think. But if you can't do that, please send the example anyway. -- Dr Richard Stallman President, Free Software Foundation 51 Franklin St Boston MA 02110 USA www.fsf.org www.gnu.org Skype: No way!
