https://libreplanet.org/wiki/List_of_software_that_does_not_respect_the_Free_System_Distribution_Guidelines#Mac-on-Linux_emulator
will need updating because this program comes with nonfree software.
Mac-on-Linux version 0.9.72.1 (the latest version as I write this and the
version I looked at) is a MacOS X emulator.
Currently this program is listed because it "Only runs/supports proprietary
software.". Given what Joshua Gay said in
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/gnu-linux-libre/2016-03/msg00039.html
"Only runs/supports proprietary software" is an inadequate reason to
exclude Mac-on-Linux because (as Gay says) there are "Good reasons to be
able to run proprietary software".
One problem that would keep Mac-on-Linux on this list are the many C source
code and header files licensed under the Apple Public Source License (APSL)
version 1.1 which is a nonfree software license[1]. One can find these
files in the "bootx" directory. Since Mac-on-Linux comes with nonfree
software the Mac-on-Linux program entry on the aforementioned LibrePlanet
list should change to read "Contains a non-free file" or something similar.
A possible remedy: If there are updated copies of these programs and header
files under a free software license (perhaps APSL 2.0), using those files
instead should remedy this problem.
Thanks for considering this.
[1] https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/historical-apsl.html says that the APSL
1.1 is a nonfree license.
