that was my assumption - many years ago, debian reviewed and approved the game
machine and all of the mentioned games

debian's published licensing metadata fir the game machine package does not
include the problematic license terms, described in the OP of this thread:

the machine itself has many license - most are GPL-compatible, several are
unconventional, yet probably GPL-compatible - those are basic and typical -
