That is an adequate way to protect _yourself_ from running nonfree,
but it requires you to check everything yourself.  That is hard work,
and (being human) sometimes you will neglect to check and end use the
offered nonfree softwasre.

The point of a free distro is that _it checks for you_, so if you
only install what it recommends, you are safe from nonfree software.

The other benefit of a free distro is that, by recommending it,
we never give users the impression that we think some nonfree program
is acceptsable to recommend.
