Karen (aks Flatfish)

Complete and utter bullshit.

There is a sliding scale of $200 to $5000 depending on company size.

The whole object of the exercise is to stop other wankers registering the
'Linux' name and extorting the Linux community as someone recently
attempted to do in Australia.

The fees being asked for are primarily to meet the cost of registering the
trademark in most significant countries in the world, not a cheap
undertaking.

The likes of Red Hat would far rather pay $5000 to protect the name than be
subject extorted by people in various countries who legally but improperly
register the name 'Linux'.
