He really enjoyed our group and loved all of the questions and participation. More speakers and talks are in the works (with bigger rooms and more food), so keep an eye an out... I figured I'd post some Free Culture type events in NYC happening this week that you might consider going to. First, there's Lawrence Lessig and Chris Anderson at the NYPL on Thursday night. Buy your tickets now, Lessig's talks usually sell out.. Check out http://www.smarttix.com/show.aspx?showCode=CHR8 to buy tickets and more info. Chris Anderson just released his book "The Long Tail" about how the Internet caters to the 80% of the market that Walmart and Virgin don't care about. It should be a great talk.. I'll be there. Friday at Irving Plaza, Creative Commons is hosting their New York fundraiser event. Diplo, Girl Talk and Peeping Tom (Mike Patton's newest thing). Tickets are $25 and the event is part of Wired's NextFest. Check out more info here : http://nextfest.net/inform/event_9.29_nextmusic.php I'll be manning the CC booth from 8-9pm, so make sure to drop by and say hi if you come. On to some Free Culture @ NYU news.. We're very lucky to be hosting the first of many international DRM protests at the Apple Store Midtown on Saturday at 3pm. We're going to be handing out flyers, and educating consumers about the evils of DRM, and more specifically -- the DRM in Apple's iTunes store. I'm also working on getting about 20 yellow and bright green Hazmat suits for us to wear (because, as you know, DRM is dangerous) from the DefectiveByDesign.org guys. FYI: There should be a lot of media there.. And on one final note: We're going to be meeting tomorrow night at 8pm to discuss these plans and work on the flyer for Saturday as well as talk about copyright. Please come if you're interested in any of these topics -- we love our new members. Free Culture @ NYU Tuesday, Sept 26th 2006 8pm 7th Floor of Kimmel Wash Sq.
