In general, people do not read usenet any more. Especially they do not read gnu.misc.discuss, because they are not interested in discussing particulars of a certain species of ruminant. In general, people who do participate on usenet have been doing it since the days when acoustic couplers were the norm, and value pithiness. In general, people are offended by 99% of the internet. In general, the answer to "Why?" is "Because." People work on things that interest them.
