Hello, GNU Music mailing list members. I'm the maintainer of these lists
and I've just had a question about a recent change to the lists that I
should probably answer publicly to forestall other such questions.

You may or may not have noticed that the GNU Music mailing list archive
identifiers are now of the form ".../1999/NNN" instead of ".../1998/NNN"
This is not the standard archive name format used by SmartList, which is
of the form ".../latest/NNN". For the GNU Music lists, "latest" is a
synonym for the current year and the value changes at New Years GMT.
The archive identifier is in the header of each GNU Music mailing list
message as the last part of the value of the X-MailingList header line.

If you were not aware that the GNU Music mailing lists provide access to
the list archives via email, then this change won't affect you. If you
*do* use the archive server, and want a message from 1998, simply use a
"get" command of the form "get 1998/NNN" instead of "get latest/NNN".
