Quoting the pl24 announce message:
* TFM file reading (be sure to symlink your TeX TFM directory
to the LilyPond directory, next to afm, scm etc.)
i.e., do something like:
ln -s /usr/lib/texmf/.../cm/tfm $LILYPOND_SOURCEDIR/tfm
because TeX setups are soo different, it doesn't seem feasible to
automate this.
